.District Institute of Education and Training was established in accordance with the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Restructuring and Reconstruction of Teacher Education in India. In the year 2005 Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt of India had established a new six (6) Telescoped DIET in Mizoram.
Accordingly, on 22 April,2006 the then, Hon'ble Education Minister of the Govt. of Mizoram Dr. R Lalthangliana had inagurated Telescoped DIET at Serchhip.
